You often see polenta served on a plate as a side dish with a main course. But that isn’t how my family eats it. To eat it properly, once cooked you spread it over a clean wooden board, like a large cutting board, and top with my Grandma Angie’s Original Grilli Spaghetti Sauce, and then eat family style, right from the board.

I remember doing this as a young child, in my grandma’s kitchen with the family gathered around. It was always fun eating in such an unorthodox way, straight from the table.

Even if you choose not to eat on the table, you can still serve on a dish.

Grandma Angie’s Polenta

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Corn Meal

  • 10 cups Water

Directions

  • Pour 10 cups of cool water into pot
  • Stir corn meal into water
  • Set burner temperature to medium
  • Stir occassionally
  • Cook 35-40 minutes
  • Spread polenta on wood board and flatten to approximately 1-2" thick.
  • Top with your favorite toppings like Parmesan Cheese, or my favorite, Grandma Angie's Original Grilli Spaghetti Sauce.
  • Place board in middle of table and eat family style right from the board. Serve with a salad.
