This one isn’t one of our Italian family recipes, but it was one of my favorites growing up. I now make it for my own children and they love it as much as I did.

It is simple and fast and can be made after a long day at work with little effort. You’ve probably got the ingredients in your home right now. I’ve found that not using the green onions really gives it a completely different taste, so I suggest not omitting them.

Donna’s Hamburger Noodle Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground Beef

  • 12 oz Wide Egg Noodles

  • 16 oz Sour Cream

  • 4 oz Cream Cheese softened

  • 10 ea Green Onions chopped

  • 2 cups Jack Cheese grated

  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese, medium grated

  • 8 oz Stewed Tomatoes

  • 8 oz Tomato Sauce

Directions

  • Preheat oven 350°
  • Cook egg noodles per package direction.
  • In skillet, brown ground beef. Drain fat.
  • Add stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce to skillet with beef and simmer 15 minutes.
  • In medium bowl, blend together sour cream and cream cheese.
  • In pan, layer 1/2 noodles, 1/2 meat mixture, 1/2 sour cream mixture, 1/4 green onions. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Top with cheeses and remaining green onions.
  • Bake 350° for 40 minutes.
