I’m here to tell you, String Beans Au Gratin puts that string bean onion mushroom casserole thing to shame. Shame, I tell you! 😁 Is your family going to complain when they see you making the string beans differently (if they’re even in the kitchen while you’re cooking!)? Probably. Are they going to beg for this recipe again? Most definitely!

We’re going to replace that bland mushroom soup with some delicious bacon, cheese, and croutons and we’re never going to look back!

String Beans Au Gratin

Ingredients

  • 4 ea bacon slices

  • 1 cup yellow onion chopped

  • ½ lb Velveeta cheese cubed

  • ¼ cup milk

  • tsp sallt

  • 18 oz string beans fresh or frozen, cooked well and drained

  • 1 cup seasoned croutons

Directions

  • Preheat ove 350°
  • Fry bacon until crisp, remove from skillet.
  • Drain fat, reserving 1 tbsp.
  • Cook onion in reserved bacon fat.
  • Add cheese and milk. Heat until melted.
  • Crumble bacon.
  • Stir in bacon, seasonings and beans. Top with croutons.
  • Bake 25 minutes
