What else is there to say. Bread Pudding is the bomb. You can find so many variations of bread pudding, different sauces to top it with, different base flavors… the changes are endless.

This is my family’s tried and true version of bread pudding. I have to admit though, I usually don’t add the raisins unless one of my children specifically ask them. Either way, this recipe is delicious.

Grandma Angie’s Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup creamed butter

  • 12 slices white bread

  • cup sugar

  • 4 cup hot milk

  • 3 tsp vanilla

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 cup raisins optional

  • 2 ea eggs lightly beaten

Directions

  • Prepheat oven 300°
  • Spread butter on 1 side of each slice of bread
  • Cover bottom of baking pan with 6 slices of bread, butter side up
  • Sprinkle with Cinnamon
  • Add raisins if desired
  • Top with 2nd layer of bread, butter side up
  • Sprinkle with Cinnamon
  • In bowl, use blender to beat eggs slightly and mix in sugar.
  • Slowly add hot milk, then vanilla, to egg mixture while blending.
  • Pour egg mix over bread.
  • Set pan in larger pan of hot water and bake in 300° oven for 50 minutes.
  • Test with knife. If comes out clean, remove from oven.

Equipment

  • 13×9 greased cake pan
  • Medium to large roasting pan that cake pan will fit into
  • Blender
  • Bowl for mixing
